La Paloma Fiesta
The pasodoble is a very traditional martial-inspired Spanish dance. The fiesta is the Madrid's most traditional summer event. Jaime Urrutia, a rocker who started his career in Madrid's 1980s counter-culture "movida," was the headliner in the evening's entertainment last night and opened the show with a song appropriate to the event. Elderly ladies in their historic costumes danced to electric guitars, people of all ages cheered, then he got down and proved why he's still popular.
The fiesta occupied a square kilometer of the oldest part of downtown, and, like any proper fiesta, included fireworks:
