My right eye

Overall, I see pretty well. I use glasses, but even without them I could manage to read or walk down the street if I had to.
However, the vision in my right eye is a little poorer than the left eye due to minor age-related problems with the vitreous humor (the jelly-like substance inside the eyeballs) and a cataract. I can see well, but the difference is noticeable.
Despite that, I see better and more clearly with both eyes than with just the left eye alone. The right eye still has something worthwhile to give — proof again that contributions of smaller size or lesser quality can be valuable. It all adds up.

Date: 2021-07-20 02:39 am (UTC)I get my annual vision checkup every fall, and I'll see what Dr. Hillman has to say. Things are progressing, and I'm more concerned about the vitreous humor than the cataract. Cataracts are relatively easier to fix -- medieval doctors actually had a crude but somewhat effective surgery for it, in fact. They would simply dislodge the lens, leaving the eye to function more like a box camera, which was a lot better than nothing.

Date: 2021-07-20 10:55 am (UTC)The vitreous humour can be safely removed, becaue the aqueous humour fills up the eye and keeps it in shape. The vitreous is only useful for keeping the eye in shape during gestation, but has no function after birth. Oro so I was told, anyway. If it's getting cloudy, you're better off without it.
But check with your doctor :)
