Christmas lights in Chueca Plaza

Ribbons of lights form a rainbow over Plaza de Chueca, the heart of Madrid's gay district. The municipality commissions designers to decorate its main shopping and nightlife areas in ways that fits each space. Architects Sergio Sebastián y Patricia de Miguel created these lights.

Other streets and plazas have blinking eyes, pinwheels, leaves, and Christmas trees. See a pretty minute-and-a-half video here (in Spanish, but you can guess what it's saying anyway):
